Start the New Year off by sharing your literary flair with the rest of the world. Check out these compelling playwriting competitions.

Baker's Plays: High School Playwriting Contest

Baker’s Plays has a long-standing tradition of fostering young talent. Every year they host their High School Playwriting Competition.

The plays can be any length or subject, so long as they are penned by a student. Therefore, scripts must be accompanied by a signature from a drama or English teacher, verifying the author’s “high school” status.

Winners receive a cash prize of $500 and a publication contract.

The Southern Playwright Competition is hosted annually by Jacksonville State University. Aside from the monetary award, the winning playwright gets to see his/her work produced by the college.
