Weathervane Playhouse: 10-Minute Playwriting Contest

By November 9, 2012

Follow me on:

Once again, the Weathervane Playhouse is seeking original ten-minute plays for its annual 8X10 TheatreFest weekend. From now until May, the artist directors invite authors to submit their scripts for the chance to be one of the eight short plays performed on August 16th, 17th and 18th. (And yes, for those starving writers out there, Weathervane will be rewarding several cash prizes. First place wins $350! Here are a few details from Eileen Moushey, the coordinator of the event:

Weathervane Playhouse celebrates the art of the short-format play with the third annual 8x10 TheatreFest -- eight plays, 10 minutes each! Weathervane's volunteer judges will read all of the entries and select eight finalist plays. Our guest judges will view the plays and select the first- and second-place winners. Additionally, the audience gets to vote, too, for the "Fan Favorite" winner. All the winners are announced during a reception immediately following the final performance on Aug. 18.

Also of note, there is a ten dollar entry fee (which you can pay online) and -- my favorite part -- all submitted plays must feature a tennis racket in the story. Visit the Weathervane Playhouse website for more rules and information. May the best playwright win!
