Calling All Minnesota Playwrights!
The McKnight Foundation’s Arts program has been supporting Minnesota artists since it began in 1981. They offer fellowships to help playwrights attain the time and resources to work on their craft.

“McKnight Advancement Grants of $25,000 each are awarded to Minnesota playwrights whose work demonstrates exceptional artistic merit and potential.”

Ten Minute Play Festival
North Carolina’s The Arts Center hosts this international festival of ten minute plays. They plan to select and perform ten new plays. Each selected playwright will receive $100 and an addition $100 travel stipend if he/she is able to attend the performance.

Moral Values Festival
The Brick Theater (located in Brooklyn, New York) is actively seeking creative works from playwrights (and other artists) for their annual “Moral Values Festival.”

Jane Chambers Playwriting Award (for Women Writers)
This $1000 award is sponsored by several universities and “The Women and Theatre Program of the Association for Theatre in Higher Education.”

From their website: "We seek plays and performance texts created by women which reflect a feminist perspective and contain significant opportunities for women performers. We encourage submissions by and about women from a diversity of positions in respect to race, class, sexual preference, physical ability, age, and geographical region."

Attention: Southeastern Playwrights
The “Percolating Playreading Prize” (say that three times fast) is an annual competition that seeks to further the work of new playwrights from the southern states. Theater in the Square’s panel of professional playwrights, directors, and literary managers will select one full-length play, and the winner will receive $1000.
