Are you guys on Tumblr yet? All the cool kids are doing it. (So my college students tell me.) I created a few posts about six months ago, but I have a difficult enough time checking my email and Facebook, not to mention being a Guide at About.com. That's about all the social media I can handle! However, I have been following a terrific Tumblr project that's been going on for over a year now: The Tumblr Accent Challenge.
Everyday folks from across the globe are posting videos, each one featuring a different dialect (mainly a variation of the many English-speaking accents). I have found this particularly useful, since I've just been cast in a play in which a British accent is required, South-East London to be specific. So far, I sound like an American attempting to be Cockney. Let's hope that my avid video research will pay off. I will keep you posted as to my success/failure. In the meantime, here are a few other video resources that seem to be helping:
