Have I mentioned before that I am a sucker for award shows? It's a weakness of mine, perhaps, but ever since I was a little kid, I daydreamed about my Oscar acceptance speech. I imagined thanking all of the "little people" until the orchestra got bored and played me off.
The Tonys have become my all-time favorite award show, mainly because I am a West Coaster. I get out to New York once every five or six years, so the Tony Awards have become my favorite way of getting a glimpse at what's on Broadway. Tonight, we can look forward to live performances from new musicals like Newsies and Once, and hopefully scenes from some of this year's most provocative plays.
