"All My Sons" Act Two - The Plot Thickens
In Act One of Arthur Miller's All My Sons the audience experiences a wonderful facade: a quaint, friendly neighborhood where the Keller family lives. We learn about the sad times -- mainly the death of Larry Keller during World War II. However, in the play's beginning it seems that life goes on. Chris Keller is planning to marry his childhood friend, Ann Deever -- and together they will raise a family and achieve the American dream -- just like Chris' father Joe Keller.
But in Act Two, things fall apart. That seems to be the way of tragedies. These Arthur Miller plays would be much more cheerful if they simply ended on page 40! But then of course, they wouldn't be nearly as meaningful.
