A federally funded program, the NEA (Nation Endowment for the Arts) is committed to enriching "our Nation and its diverse cultural heritage by supporting works of artistic excellence, advancing learning in the arts, and strengthening the arts in communities throughout the country."
Thousands of artists have received generous grants from this agency. Although, some have criticized the NEA for occasionally choosing controversial works, I personally appreciate this institution's dedication to nurturing our nation's theatrical artists.
The NEA's grants nurture professional and amateur theater groups, helping artists share their craft with "underserved populations" throughout America.
